As a creditor, you may be entitled to collect debts from the estate of a deceased debtor. Trustees have traditionally published notice that an estate is being administered in local newspapers. These notices to creditors identified the deceased and set a date by which any outstanding creditors must bring forward their claims. It is much more difficult for creditors to recover these debts once this deadline has passed.
Unless your business regularly reviews the print editions of your local newspaper (as well as the newspapers from other cities where your customers live), you may not be receiving important information about estates against which you may have claims. And many estate trustees now skip the step of advertising for creditors.
NoticeConnect is a web platform that allows estate trustees to advertise for creditors online. Rather than looking through print newspapers, you can see all of the ads listed on our website for free. The ads are searchable by region.
